Why do I have to change clothes? They will see me drive up in a Jaguar and get out in my Maximum the Hormone T-Shirt and Levi's. Surely I can get in another Jaguar in that outfit!

They often don't let people test drive unless they look the part, which is kinda funny. I once stopped in (post retirement) to test drive a Honda that I was getting for my daughter and I was in ripped jeans and a tired old t-shirt. They refused to let me take a car on a test drive. I didn't bother explaining anything to them. I just left and bought the car from a different dealer that did let me test drive it.

Way back when I was poor, I'd dress up and bring a credit card with me (as that's what the dealer wanted) so that I could test drive exotic cars on the weekends. I'd not only need to look the part, I'd have to leave a credit card there with them. I assume Jag is similar and your old Jag means pretty much nothing to 'em.

Now, if you showed up in a 70s E-type, they might not care how you're dressed.

Did I tell you that I was working at a Nissan dealer the other day and when I went in one of the salesmen asked me if that was my Jag, and I said yeah, and he says you mind if I check it out, and all the sales men went out to the parking lot and circled my car at least three laps around each. One of them was sniffing it! LoL
