LOL Pot doesn't have the issue of people sticking shit in it that will kill you. And, the private dealers still have to compete with the real dealers - meaning the quality has gone up.
However, you don't have to take my word for it. We have actual data! You can see what happened in Portugal when they legalized drugs. The ODs dropped to pretty much 0%. In other words, we already know what happens 'cause Maine isn't the first place to do so.
I am aware of the Portugal legalizations. I do not think they set up dispensaries where only the selected few who pay the fees are allowed to sell the way America does it. I thought when I looked into Portugal some years back that everything was completely decriminalized, not some quasi decriminalization where only the selected can sell and if someone who sells not from a dispensary will still be arrested and charged with dealing, all cause they did not tithe the government. It is different there
Oh, it's only decriminalization at this point - which is Portugal. If you want to see where dispensaries are set up by the government, look at Holland. Once again, the ODs dropped to a trivial percentage. Holland's got the dispensaries.
I'm a betting man. IF the legislation is enacted in Maine, I bet you $100 we see improvements within 3 years. (It'll take that long for the data to come in and be sure it's not just a temporary improvement.) For improvements we'll use number of deaths due to overdosing.
LOL I'm pretty confident that the number of ODs will drop - and drop significantly, just from decriminalization.
I don't know.
One of my girlfriends daughters has overdosed three times just this year already, and I am pretty sure that it does not have anything to do with it being illegal. With her, she was just going to a bigger dose
