Those won't help. You could probably fashion something from a metal coat hanger and a cordless drill, or maybe bailing wire if you happened to have some handy. It'd need to be a fairly thick gauge but still need to be flexible enough to go around the U section of the pipe.

Drain cleaner may dissolve what's in there - if it's biological in nature.

it's draining slowly now from all my plunging, though I destroyed the plunger in the process

Well, buy a plunger before you need a plunger.

I do have another one, but its a real shitty one compared to the one I broke
