LOL My Volvo 245 is kinda like that -- except it's not user error. There's a switch that detects if the lever is in park or neutral (like a neutral safety switch, except it's at the lever itself) and that likes to malfunction. Fortunately, I've dealt with it before and know how to fix it on the road and get running again.
At least modern cars no longer need to have their points adjusted, distributor caps that fuck up, etc... Most don't even have carbs anymore.
Yeah, cars are a lot easier and more reliable.
I was just shocked that it would even turn over when not in park.
Made me happy when it fired up and ran as usual that is for sure!
