there are a couple 15-20 foot long garter snakes that I see in my yard occasionally
Garter snakes get like 2' long here, maybe a little over.
There are some snakes in the water and I guess those can get bigger, but I've never seen a big one. Even then, 5' would be huge.
Wikipedia says garter snakes only get like 54" long at the most. So, it may be a different species.
it must be a differenet species, they are huge, like amazingly huge. They are big enough to eat a cat
We have nothing like that in Maine.
I was in the Florida swamps when I saw a python that had to have been at least 15' long. The guide we were with shot it.
For the record, pythons do not belong in Florida. They're an invasive species and really bad for the habitat. I believe he gets a financial reward for killing them. However, I was pretty drunk during that episode of my life. So, I might just have made that up in my head. I'm way too lazy to go look that up.
