I'd probably be dead from a drug overdose if that had happened. I'd have ended up a slob, addicted to probably opiates, unable to find meaningful employment, and eventually just nailed myself with a hot-shot, either on purpose or by accident.

All things considered, paying the financial penalties was the best possible outcome from t he situation.

Oh, I'd have happily paid 10x the price to remain out of jail and have the outcome that I have today.
