Yeah, you can use the car as a store of energy. It's awesome.
Also, if shit hits the fan, it's a fuck of a lot easier to generate electricity than it is to generate gasoline, or even diesel.
To generate electricity, you need to spin iron inside a ring of copper. So, anything that's in motion constantly will work - from wind to water.
There is an electrician supply company in my area that has a billboard near the river that they installed a turbine in the river and whenever the power goes out at night their sign is the only thing all lit up. So yeah I do know, even today, that you can produce electricity by spinning things LoL
If I lived elsewhere, like the ME, then oil would be easier to refine. In Maine, ain't no oil to refine. There's no natural gas. So, electricity it is. I could use corn oil and refine it for diesel use.
If we were more intelligent, we'd use nuclear energy.
Watt for watt, nuclear energy is safer than gas or coal - by a huge margin, and that includes the nuclear power generation accidents we've had. Even after Chernobyl and Fukushima, it's STILL fucking safer.
I am pretty sure I am using nuclear energy. There's a nuclear power plant about 50 miles away and they tore down the old coal burning power plant much closer to me last summer. I don't think there is any other power generation in my area besides windmills. So I am either on the nukes or the wind
