They don't have felony speeding here. Though like you said, they can charge you with reckless driving or endangering safety if they want to tack on more charges, which they probably would if I was doing the speed you were.

Yeah, they've gotta have a catch-all. They really frown on 172 mph.

Hell, I was pretty sure that I was gonna get a ticket and possibly go to jail. Neither of those happened.

You got pretty lucky that day, they could take your license for that I think

Oh, fuck yes. They could have taken my license (with due process), impounded the car, arrested me, taken me to jail, and charged me with several offenses with at least one of them with a punishment that includes a potential custodial sentence.

I'm pretty sure they mostly just wanted to check out the car, more than anything else. You don't see a lot of McLarens in Maine.
