Florida's economy relies on tourism. Disney World, other theme parks & beaches draw visitors from around the world. A low #coronavirus testing rate has very powerful economic reasons. If you don't look for it, you won't find it. Imagine reversing that thought.
Spring break coming up. And all the parks in Orlando ( including Disney world) Can you imagine how much $$$ would be lost should they have to close down those parks? Its criminal in my opinion.

It's the same with hospitals in Massachusetts. They are not testing anybody who hasn't traveled or been exposed to someone who has traveled. It's the main reason why none of the universities or colleges have been closed.
You can test all you want but you have to have labs to run those tests. Nobody has the lab capacity yet. Huge private lab companies (like Quest) are coming online Monday and the quantity of tests (and the quantity of positives) will massively increase very quickly.
They've probably been under massive political pressure from Disney and Universal. If there's a documented outbreak here, it would decimate theme park attendance.

Not great news. Ultimately bad news. The cost paid by insurance companies ultimately will be paid by the people via raising insurance premium. We need to ask why a test costs $3000 when the test kit costs $3 to make? Who exactly is profiteering from the coronavirus crisis?

Thank heavens children do not appear to be as greatly affected by COVID19 as others, however, they are great spreaders and will take it home to their family. The year I had the most illnesses was the year my child entered kindergarten.
We have to close schools in "hot zone" areas to protect the parents as much as the children.
Everybody should be closing or getting ready to close. All they say is "slow it down". I think schools would be step one. Nothing wrong with summer break a few months early. Never understood why the don't have break during flu season anyway instead of summer.
Maybe my local school board and health agency can confirm why they have not initiated any extra school cleaning. Does it not make a difference? (while private Corps and transit commissions do).
