Maybe companies like Google should give people like this their prototype devices before going to mass production?

Archive: https://archive.today/2NJmy

From the post:

>A popular tech durability expert has declared Google’s new Pixel 10 Pro Fold the weakest foldable smartphone he has ever tested after the device caught fire during a routine bend test, marking the first battery explosion in his decade-long career of testing smartphones. Zack Nelson, the man behind the JerryRigEverything channel, which has nearly 10 million subscribers on YouTube, posted a video on Tuesday showing the $1,799 device snapping at its antenna lines before its battery began smoking heavily enough to trigger a fire alarm in his workspace. The explosion occurred when Nelson attempted to straighten the phone after it had already fractured during the bend test, causing the battery layers to pinch together and short circuit.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but your expectations are WAY over the top. Today, everything is fucking junk. There are no companies out there making high quality products that will last you for years and years. Everything is garbage so that you will buy another in just a few years. Even things with very long warranties have lots of small print that makes that warranty useless. Today is all about profits above all. I hate the world we live in.

I fantasize about winning a gigantic lottery and opening a manufacturing plant to make better stuff. Just Stuff. Whatever. Make it better, make it last. I will call my company "Better Stuff" and sell everyone ONE of each of the things that we make, and it will last them decades. Then they will buy more of my stuff. I would go on and on about this but I'm sure you get it.

Oh I totally agree with you about 90%. I spend stupid amounts of time researching things and looking at if I can repair it. I am not the "typical" person so I can repair things that most other people would just replace.

Its hard to find anything like that anymore but I still try. Hell, I ripped apart a microwave to replace a $35 part that if I paid someone to do it, it would have cost around $500 and a new microwave of the same thing would have been maybe around $200.

I did "waste" time on it myself and I did cut myself up (those things are fucking full of sharp sheet metal, lame) but I fixed it, it should last at least 6-8 years on a $35 fix that most people would have just thrown the thing away and bought a new one.

All things come with compromise but even with phones, my first "smartphone" was something I bought broken off ebay, repaired myself and used it for a few years. A few friends asked me to do it for them and I had to tell them I can't guaranteed the work but I fixed a few and they used them for a few years too.

I am a bullheaded to say the least but I also don't like not being able to fix something. Eventually it will be beyond my ability probably but until then I will keep doing what I do and pissing companies off by hacking shit, fixing it, etc...

For sure. But you are anomalous. I can fix almost anything. I open shit up and take shit apart way before I buy a new one. What I am saying is that things they make today are not designed to last you for 30 years or more. I want to build a house, I need a water heater, oh, this one looks nice, it's 27 hundred bucks and it is yayyyyy so efficient and oh yea, here's your 2 year warranty..... What the fuck is that? 2 years? I'm building a fucking house here. I need this shit to be good for the next 30 or 40 years. Front door? 6 grand - 5 year warranty. Tub/shower unit? 15 hundred - 3 year warranty.

Pisses me right the fuck off. Everything is garbage. Sure, you can fix it, I can maybe fix it. What about the other 97 percent of the population?

I wish there was some more land left to claim. Somewhere that White people could move to and start over again. There isn't. I'm thinking about moving to Russia though.

FML and yep. I agree. Though, if you are thinking about land in Russia, let me know.

There is plenty of open land in the US. Most if is just owned by the government. It's part of what is making it such a pain in the ass for us looking for land.

Do you have a RV? Ill make sure there is at least one RV spot with hook-up's if we can get some land. Hell, Probably like 3. We might need a RV to use the land too. x.x
