When the date went from 1999 to 2000, everyone was scrambling to reprogram legacy applications to handle 4 digit years. Now that Trump is considering stopping daylight saving time, I suspect a lot of systems will need code changes to stop automatic daylight time changes.

Hmm...not sure the world would "melt down" like y2k fears did, but it could fuck up shit being auto shifted an hour. I know Windows XP is still VERY prevalent in the wild.

Time zone compliance is a huge pain point in software development, and eliminating dst would simplify it greatly.
