What made the officer pull the trigger? When the first round went off the victim was still very much in harms way. I considered that a very risky shot. Was there some overt movement from the perp that I miss?
I think cop saw a clear shot and so took it.
Druggy retard was not in any way being in the least bit cooperative and was being a clear threat... but still - it did look pretty risky. All's well that ends well, though!
yeah... I saw the shot open up... but the perp still had a knife to the victim's ribs at the time, and the pause between the first two shots was enough to stab several times. I think this only ended well via luck. When people get shot their reaction can be unpredictable. Sometimes they freeze up like this perp. Sometimes they act like nothing happened and require many follow up shots. This could have gone very differently.
While I do agree with you it was a risky move, I guess there's an argument to be made about if the perp would stab their hostage when shot.
Most people go into shock when hit. You can see the guy get hit, and his reaction was one of "wait, what just happened?" -- probably not going to go into a stabbing rage with hot metal burning a hole in you.
