Opening day of trout season is the last Saturday in April. I've fished the opening day for decades. On at least three of those days, there's been snow on the ground and the rod tips are freezing up. Yes, it is cold. No, it is not unusual for it to be cold in April during the low point in the eleven year solar sunspot cycle. Perfectly normal, in fact.

Opening day is two days away, and it is snowing here right now.

Opening day it's expected to be 14C... that's roughly 60 degrees for the metric inhibited.

Sunspot activity is now increasing again. That means the planet will be warming again in the years to come. Next winter should be somewhat milder as a result.

It's important to realize that accurate weather records don't actually go back that far. Kind of hard to spot legitimate anomalies in so small a data set.
