as a child at 12 did not know this till later that day. I went under a huge pine tree when it started raining hard and I was sitting down and a lightening bolt hit a tree 50ft away. I didn't realize that you could feel the electricity so well when that much voltage is released 50ft away. Heck back then I was oblivious to the fact that electricity could jump and fork. That close you can also feel some heat and a blastwave the same as if your closer than normal when the fireworks explode and that is the thing that sets the survival instinct to, this is a bad area to be right now.
