I think what changing the color does is exposes certain heat signatures so they're easier to see, at least that's how I understood what was being said.

Because this specific vid is fake. As I mentioned elsewhere about the explosion, I don't buy the freak chemical accident but when I see something that's obviously fake then I'll call it out. As we all should.
