Finally, here it is. Except it isn’t. Jaguar’s Type 00 is a concept, pure and simple, although after the hoopla over last month’s new “woke” advertising campaign, it’s a job to know what’s real and what’s not. But despite the social media misdirection, this resplendently pink machine is only an inspiration for the next throw of the dice for the storied car maker founded by William Lyons in 1933, as the glory days seem more and more remote and the company consecutively risks everything on an all-electric future.
Can a new £100,000-plus electric car (EV) convince buyers? It took the PR and design operation an entire morning to say what could have been communicated in half an hour, but then we were herded into the viewing hall at Gaydon, the company’s headquarters and base for its 800-strong design staff.
Breathtaking
And there, in a more subdued satin rose pink hue than the examples in these pictures, the Type 00 concept car, subject of four years of work, looked quite simply breathtaking.
