There is more bad news for the electric vehicle industry.

CNN reported Monday that automobile giant Ford will lay off about 700 employees responsible for assembling the F-150 Lightning, the electric version of its highly popular pickup truck, at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, close to its main headquarters.

“We are adjusting the schedule at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center because of multiple constraints, including the supply chain and working through processing and delivering vehicles held for quality checks after restarting production in August,” the company said in a statement.

However, The Wall Street Journal reported last week that it had obtained a memo from a UAW leader expressing concerns about falling demand for Ford's electric pickup.

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that our sales for the Lightning have tanked,” the memo said.

It's a beauty. I run regular gas, it doesn't need premium, I'm not sure why he say's that. I don't pay attention to gas milage, it's far better than my last gmc 350 lol. It may wear quicker but I take good care of it. I only have 26k miles on it after 5.5 years as I ride my MC a lot in the summer so it'll last me a long time and it'll be gone before it gets to higher milage. Nowadays pretty much everything is higher technology and there are so many parts to fail, we're all in the same boat. Drive an old vehicle, parts are getting harder to get and ridiculously expensive. It's all a big racket and I don't get into the who's better debate, they're pretty much all the same now.

Yes, the new ones. I'll try to get another 15 years out of my 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 2500HD crew cab 6.6 diesel 4x4 with ~130K miles. It gets 24MPG highway in the summer. It's got a 450HP tuner and 4" dual exhaust so it puts out about the same HP/Torque as the new GMCs diesels but with better MPGs and no need for DEF. I just can't justify the price of the new trucks for personal use. I despise all of the unnecessary electronics and plastic underhood parts on the new stuff, have had excellent luck with this truck since I bought it new. If I can get another 15 years out of it, I'll be getting too old to play with big trucks anymore.

Good choice. I could never justify a diesel as I had nothing much too tow with it. If I had purchased one I'd be the same way. Last forever and power to spare.
