Tipping culture has gotten way too fucking out of hand.

Archive: https://archive.today/z7q1U

From the post:

Tipping culture in the US appears to have become so extreme that some staff now think that customers who do not leave a gratuity are breaking the law.

At least, that's what some restaurant workers seem to think, judging by a viral video this week that shows a dramatic confrontation between employees and a customer. The clip has reignited a broader debate over whether tipping in America has spiraled out of control, raising questions about 'tipflation,' social pressure, and the expectations placed on diners. It shows the tense aftermath after a man allegedly left a restaurant without tipping his wait staff.

Negative tip them and discount your meal on their nickel.

Modern (((tipping))) has caused far too many people to believe they are owed something beyond their wages for just doing their job. If you are a server who is getting paid the (((serving wage))) and rely on tips to make up the difference, then you should not work as a server. Other jobs don't get tips and they provide much more service than a waitress does. It's not an expectation to tip an income tax preparer or plumber so fuck you servers for thinking refreshing drinks on a sub-par level deserves extra money. You give bad service most of the time so you should expect nothing in return.

This practice needs to end. It's only making things worse. End (((tipping))) and (((server wages))). It's so very jewed up now.

You don’t think the uber drivers deserve tips? Or the people who take your call on To go orders?

I fucking hate tips. Especially for these cunts that don’t actually do anything to warrant it. Tips were a means to show gratitude for a job well done; a barber who does excellent haircuts, a waitress or improves dining experience by being attentive and friendly.

I hate where it’s gone.

Imagine how pissed people would be if I demanded a tip every time I did something for them (I work in tech). It would be fucking comical.

"So, I reset your password, how much would you like to tip today? It is mandatory".

Demand the tip up front. That helps set the queue.

In some ways, it might be considered a bribe, I suppose…but that would be wrong because you’re just getting a tip.

I think you should start doing this. When they complain, just tell them that tipping restaurant servers is the norm and you're just trying to make the practice inclusive. It's the right thing to do, according to their practices with others.

I have been saying this for over a decade but most of "Tech" work is actually just service industry at this point. At least that's how it feels based on how the mouth breathing morons act. A little kindness and not being a piece of shit goes a long way when talking to your IT people. It's not fucking hard.

I wonder how many niggers they've chased down.
