Apologies for the drift, but does anyone know solar for generators? I used to think a basic prep for 3 months was good enough to get by and be able to react to a dynamic situation.
There's ready made solid state batteries you can charge with photovoltaic panels and systems to charge an existing panel/storage system with, for example, a diesel genny instead of solar. Not sure if you mean one or the other or maybe both?
In case of an EMP-like impact both might be damaged beyond repair but there's no way to know. Things not connected to the grid and properly shielded might survive.
Have a dual fuel gen, but it noisy. I'm thinking around 10a, for an older, dumb fridge.
I'm thinking something like the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2, about $350. Can output 2000 W of power, more than enough for a fridge, my old POS needs about 75 W. Battery has 1000 Wh capacity, should be enough for appx. 40 hours. Mine has an average energy consumption of 25 Wh per hour. You can use a kill-a-watt or similar to measure yours. The above only gives you maybe two days of independence when the sun isn't shining. Efficiency of the fridge and battery capacity is important here.
Looked a little closer and it seems the Anker uses XT60 connectors to hook up the panel(s). Standard connector on panels is MC4, at least in Yurop. Adapters are available. Also takes max 600W and 60 Volts from the panel(s). Depending on the panel voltage, which can go up to 50 Volts, this means you can only hook up one.
You might be able to get a used panel for free or cheap, so you don't have to shell out cash for the Anker ones.
This is just a rough baseline, there's other suppliers but the electrical requirements are similar.
