Almost summer. We rototilled a bunch of grass in our yard to make a plot after the ground unfroze. Didn't add any soil amendments so the ground is probably nutrient poor. It's clay-heavy as well. Lots of weeding, as it's hard to completely till grass away. It also has a very thick root system, which left the soil very clumpy.
Planted seeds approximately May 15 - generally last day of heavy frost. Many of the seeds didn't take. I was a cheap ass and bought the ultra-clearance seeds for $0.25 a pack which may have been a factor. I also tend to plant to deep. Also the soil sucks. Anyway, after we saw what sprouted and didn't sprout we ended up buying some starts.
Started adding an organic fertilizer to the soil and letting the rain water it in. Slugs have been a problem. I did get some slug poison but only enough to cover about half the garden. After that experiment, comparing the poison half to the non-poison, I would say Corey's slug poison is effective.
Got the irrigation hoses set up last week. They need a little work. Used, donated, so they were cheap.

Onions are doing awesome. Ones pictured were planted close for green onions, but there are two rows behind where they're properly spaced out to make bulbs.

Beets could be thinned a bit more, but they sprouted ok.

Got a few jalapeno plants grown from starts that are looking ok, though a little yellowish in the leaves. They have flowers though.

Squash and radishes. I hear they are good companion plants (because the pests like the radishes more).
These radishes are mostly from seed I harvested last year, so we'll see what kind of mutants I've created. May have them go to seed again it was a pretty cool plant and very unexpected given what you normally harvest them as.
P.S. thanks @picman your album feature is the shit
glad you like it :)
