Zone 5 here. I've seen tomatoes grow so large the skin split and scabbed before turning red, particularly Burpee Big Boy Hybrids ... and I've seen years when the green pepper plants produced virtually nothing. FWIW. 50+ years of observation.

Man... I just got my tomatoes outside. I started them indoors in a hydro setup and they are still mostly under 2ft. You all already have pounds of fruit x.x

It will be much later in the summer for green tomatoes going red here - zone 5. No pounds of fruit yet. The splitting/scabbing can happen in July/Aug just before ripening.

Ah ok. Still. Im a bit jealous ;) But I am glad to read that you're plants are doing well.

I have some indoor cherry tomatoes still in the hydro setup that are just getting past the flowering stage so I am really looking forward to picking some fruit soon.

These aren't store bought tomato seeds. I think our nights are too cool right now. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same

Technically neither were mine, everything (peppers too) packed for the year purchased and mail ordered directly from Burpee.

That's been the case around here, not the last week or so but before that, for many weeks it would be 60s-70s in the day and low 30s at night. Wasn't the best. I enjoyed it for my sleep though.
