Nice. Just planted a lemon, lime, navel, and peach to go along with my 86 walnuts. And Mr. Not me (who actually does all the manual labor, so can’t really take credit for planting them) is laying the drip now. I, however, do all the labor for the harvesting and processing of the walnuts. Another 2-3 years and we’ll have to hire it out.

I had walnut trees growing up, we never got much because the squirrels always took most of them.

Funny you should mention that. It has always been my bane with these trees. When they first started producing, I got like 23 nuts lol. And the damn squirrels got the rest. As they matured (some have been in the ground for a few years), we began shooting the squirrels. Got one today lol. I’m sometimes conflicted about that as I love animals, but console myself with ‘stay out of my yard and we won’t have a problem’. Stupid, I know, but they and the gophers can just eff off. Disease carrying destructive varmits the lot of them.

My brother started shooting them too

We are quite a few years from that kind of operation but I wanted to get something planted this year.

We’ve been here 21 years so that is definitely a distinct advantage.

Yeah that would for sure help. Lol
