How easy is garlic to grow and could i grow some in a pot?
Probably one of the easiest things to grow assuming you have good soil/sun. Even easier if you don't live in an area that freezes. The problem would be that you would have to grow it in strategic spots enclosing your main garden in order to permanently deter the bastards. This is why people build garden enclosures.
It also will take give or take up to 10 months for it to grow if you plant now. You're probably better off just doing the spray at this point. Though I still recommend growing garlic at home just because home made garlic is 100x better than any of the stuff you would get from a factory farm. I have seen garlic grown in a pot before but it's not recommended because of the amount of watering and drainage needed. You could probably do a small amount in a pot but it won't be enough to piss off the slugs.
Hmmm, ok thanks. My soil is rock hard, you cannot even dig into most of it so I've had to grow things in large planters. On the patio where I have all my best stuff - that's where the snails are. I figured if I had garlic in pots there, I could move the pots around strategically, but yeah, looks like spray is the way to go.
