Diatomaceous earth
I asked this question on Voat a while ago.
You can trap them with beer in a bowl or cup. Or you can put boards face down in between your rows and physically remove them when they hide for cover from the sun.
There are also things they don't like to cross. Diatomaceous earth, copper tape, there even a youtube video where someone rigged a couple parallel wires to a 9 volt battery on his raised beds so that when the slugs tried to cross it completed the circuit and zapped them.
I think I am going with diatomaceous earth, if it's not too expensive, combined with some slug traps. I'm gardening in the open earth rather than raised beds, so there is no surface to attach copper tape or a circuit to.
edit: on re-reading Voat answers diatomaceous earth may not be the way to go. Apparently sulfur slug-killer might be better.
you can make a garlic solution at home, that's what people used to do in Russia.
"Soak 3 crushed garlic cloves in 1 tablespoon (15 mL) of vegetable oil overnight. Then, strain the liquid into 1 litre (4.2 c) of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Add 1 teaspoon (4.9 mL) of liquid soap to the solution, then shake the bottle before using." you can spray it directly on snail/slugs, soil, plants, etc.
I like this idea, thank you
Thanks for the detailed reply.
Slugs snails are from the devil. I have to keep small plants inside until theyre bigger. The slugs will come by and just chomp the main stem down then move on.
I had about 30 plus small lettuce sprouts planted in a bed and slugs ate every single one in a day. Haha. I dont have much luck with lettuce around here.
I find a small rock nearby and squash them to death when i see them.
Know what you mean about chomping the stalks, the little fuckers. I still don't like to hurt them though. You know what us (biological) women are like, so emotional!
Haha. You need a husband. My wife always has me killing spiders and the like
It's bad luck to kill spiders. No i am not superstitious.
you can just cover them in salt to kill them
That's cruel and gross.
Salt the earth. Great gardening tip.
Didn't say to salt your soil, just the snails and slugs. Don't salt your soil.

is your garden enclosed? or is it large and open?
Enclosed
Then the garlic spray will work better imo than a beer trap.
I am going to try the garlic because I got some new plants yesterday and i'm not having these slimy little fuckers destroy them too. Thanks
