I apologize if this is a little long winded. I wanted to provide some back story on my set up.

On my property I have been building and planting an Orchard type project for several years now. I have several rows of trees planted totalling 30 fruit trees and several raised beds.

I built the first raised bed out of boulders and it is 156' long and 4' wide and the depth varies between 10"-20". I lined it and filled it with 50/50 manure and top soil. I planted 41 blackberry plants in that bed. They have gone completely apeshit.

The next year I built another smaller bed. It is roughly 65' long by 5' wide and is considerably deeper because of the boulders. Depth is like 18"-30" depending. I filled it the same with 50/50 manure and topsoil.

I planted 12 red currant plants in that bed. The deer ate the living shit out of them all and I didn't save them. It's a work in progress for this year.

I am assuming the plants liked the soil because short of being eaten to death they seemed to be happy.

Both beds have heavy wood mulch covering.

Anyways, I'm looking to build another bed and want to plant Blueberries in there.

I know they are more sensitive to soil types and they like more acidic soils. The experience level I have with blueberries beyond that is very limited.

I'm trying to get a feel for anyone else that's growing them in beds. Ways to dress the soil to help them thrive (peat? Etc...)

Does anyone have any good variety suggestions for a zone 6 that can take the wind and cold?

I do research a lot of projects going into them but I thought this might be a fun way to kick around some ideas.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and maybe if you guys like this kind of stuff, I can try and figure out how to post more stuff in the future.
