Awesome, thanks! My ducks outlay my chickens and my quail outlay my ducks. Even though they're smaller, pound for pound it's still easier and faster to butcher quail.
The boys make an occasional ker-chuck noise, but your neighbors likely won't even notice.
I'm glad you and your family are getting that experience! I'm trying to get mine into that position asap, that's the way to live and the way to raise children.
My kids love the ducks. All my animals are raised with borderline abuse from little kids. It's good for each party. I'd recommend you get a duck and drake. If you have any yard at all they'll feed themselves all summer on bugs.
Added benefit of less bugs around too!
I saw a video where a guy was doing a bunch of ducks and would have a roadside stall (kind of "honor system setup") where he was making good money off of duck eggs too.
By good money I mean good supplemental money ;)
