Well like beans, corn, squash work pretty well if you are timely on planting them and have the right cultivars. But ppl get really into some of the companion stuff and make claims like planting certain flowers under crops will keep certain pests away. I tried that also and it didn't work too well. It's been a few years so I'm a little foggy on some of it
