Got 30 planted. These are Yellow Bantam heirloom from a ~5 year old survival pack type of seed pack. Looks like at least half are going to come up. Had some going last year, but started too late and they croaked in the mid summer heat. These should be big enough to stick in the ground in a month or so. Would be nice to get a few ears for seed and a few to eat.

It's been crazy watching the huge fields of corn around me grow over the past month.

I had no idea how fast they grew! They almost seem to be doubling in size every week.

Haven't seen any around here. Not commercial scale anyways. Cotton and Sorghum mostly I think.

It's summer where i am.

I remember maybe a little over month ago, the crops were about the size of what you posted. Yesterday they were taller than i am.

In fact yesterday was the first time i actually realised what part of the plant the corn grows from!

Awesome. I grew up in corn country. You can actually here it rustle as it grows on some of those optimum balmy nights.

You're gonna need a lot more than 12 plants to get proper fertilization. Start a few more more trays of seedlings since they don't take long to sprout. Like, a lot more trays.

Corn also does better when planted directly into the ground.

But enjoy your harvest! I can't wait to get some in the ground.
