Lettuce, Kale, Raddish, Broccoli, also planted some lavender seeds to see if I can add a couple more plants.

Good to hear. What do you do with lavender?

Harvest it and put it in jars. Next time I make soap I may throw some of the florets in there. I think my wife makes shortbread cookies with it, but I'm not sure.

Super cool. My place is going to be bean heaven. We'll see if we succeed in getting the county to come out and complain. That's the goal.

Now that is good goal setting. Specific and measurable.

Those chickens may steal your seeds. :)

They don't know it yet but they're gonna be sheltering in place.

Yeah, I was gonna say they didn't look like they were practicing proper social distancing.

should of raked that grass out.... or better ye shave it off like sod and amend the top with compost. if you can pound in treated lumber edge so the grass cant creep in. it will provide a barrier for moles etc.

most people dont realize treated wood today is perfectly fine to use in the garden...... or you could raise it lay down newspapers or cardboard back fill it.

Didn't know that about the pressure treated. I've never had mole problems, but it'd be nice to have some border to run copper tape around for slugs. The grass creep isn't much of a problem for me. Got a beast of a tiller.

And the clumps I've just been picking out as I go. Part of the weeding.

they use to use arsnic to treat lumber, they use a copper based chemical now... i think it is by law. look it up. The stigma just stuck

yeah grass will try to get back in

actually in your situation i would make into a raised

something like this, its pretty crude but you get the idea it gives you a walkway and you can reach in and still get around etc.

i aint giving ya shit man, overall it looks good and im happy you are getting into gardening. i'm just speaking out of my experiences.

that grass isnt going any where, it grow back and you be pulling it out all year. you can get on them landscaping raks at the orage or and get as much of that crap out as possible....

or, like i recommended go raised bed. a good 5 or 6 inches the grass will most likely not pop back thru. most cities around here have public composting... but be fucking careful with that shit too make sure its fucking fully composted. cause you can get viruses (for you plants) and fungus in that that shit... or just buy bagged crap.

like i said this is my lessons learned, i have a VERY large garden area. also, get captains jack dead bug, its considered organic. its spinosad, basically if ya get lice on pets its what ya use its very safe. i use it all the time on my asparagus to kill bettles..... just dont fucking spray it when you see bees... morning is best before lady bugs pop out of the ground.

look at me got me talking like a old woman, naw it looks man... please dont get me wrong. i wish i had chickens.... hard up here

i'll probably be on mumble in a hour or so

stay safe
