It's based on the book not the movie. Millions of people love the book. The David Lynch version, at least compared to the more recent version, did not make every strong character into a pussy. I appreciate it much more for that fact alone. You may not like it, but I can appreciate it for creating the Dune universe more in the style I imagined it to be. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I love Lynch's version.
