This is the website for Decentraland:
https://decentraland.org/

The game lets you build on parcels of virtual land who's ownership and owner-customized content is recorded on blockchain, so it's decentralized and, supposedly, uncensorable.

Note the cartoony cell-shaded art style. I'm not saying this aesthetic is wrong for the project, but I've observed it to be a common symptom of pozzed culture. (It's an easier, low-effort graphic style so it's preferred by people with poor work ethic. (Though I don't mean to discredit the work done on the project.)). This gives me the impression there may be some people involved with this who don't realize the full implications of decentralization. The cure for the poz is basic property rights, and that's just what this game is all about, so I think it may turn out to be an interesting experiment and eye opening experience for players.

If it really is decentralized, what's stopping Decentraland from being turned into Decentrareich? Know what I'm saying?

Maybe start buying LAND now before the game goes live, if you think you'd have fun with this.

I've thought about this Decentraland concept before. Blockchain is no good for gaming in most cases, but persistent worlds is an area where it actually is valuable. Imagine a world where you didn't just buy property, but you could also conquer it. In most games you have this mechanic, but it's not persistent in a blockchain. It means, if you have a lot of money you could buy huge amounts of land, but, as you don't have the time to protect it, you would need to rely on AI that might not be very good at protecting it, and so in game centralized power would likely have a tendency to decentralize.

Yea that could be fun, but I don't think there's violent conquest in this one so you could just buy a bunch of land and sit on it while you troll the virtual neighbourhood. Any invasion would have to be economic, using money from outside. Like what the Chinese are doing to Canada, especially Vancouver. If the game gets popular it could become a huge virtual real-estate bubble.

Chinese are doing that everywhere. Africa, Australia, New Zealand too.
