With Steam and most importantly CCP Games (Icelandic developers of EVE Online) ending support for win7/8, it appears I have a choice of win10 or 11.

From what experience I have with windows 10 (work PCs and a laptop), I really dont like that OS.

So I'm curious about 11.. is it worse?

I'm not really considering linux an option, because developers obviously cater to the overwhelming market share for windows. Linux and MacOS are afterthoughts, and you have to keep in mind that some software won't run on the platforms.

I'm in a similar situation with me being reliant on Microsoft Visual Studio for my job: I get warnings: VS will no longer run on your OS, you need Windows 10 or 11. I don't want to update Windows, I already don't like it. So far, I continue to use an older version of VS, but at some point, I need to make a decision. I'm probably going to switch to Visual Studio Code, which runs on every OS and totally forgo the Visual Studio experience.

I've used both Windows 10 and 11, there isn't much difference. If you decide to upgrade, jump to 11 because Windows 10 will soon be obsolete and you'll be forced to upgrade that at some point anyway.
