With Steam and most importantly CCP Games (Icelandic developers of EVE Online) ending support for win7/8, it appears I have a choice of win10 or 11.

From what experience I have with windows 10 (work PCs and a laptop), I really dont like that OS.

So I'm curious about 11.. is it worse?

I'm not really considering linux an option, because developers obviously cater to the overwhelming market share for windows. Linux and MacOS are afterthoughts, and you have to keep in mind that some software won't run on the platforms.

Win11 is WAY worse. You will absolutely require a mobo upgrade in order to have a "Trusted Platform Module 2.0" on your system. It's the most orwellian name, since as near as I can tell its main job is to give the NSA a backdoor into your machine.

I'm concerned that I may have to do this anyway. My CPU, while advanced for its time, is now ancient.

If your running Windows 7, it is likely time to upgrade hardware also.
