VR is great when done right. Most people wont be able to stomache fps type movement in VR without getting sick. Games like Half Life Alex and No Man Sky just leap you around while letting you walk around your space which keeps you from getting sick. That being said there is really not that many good games.
It is possible to train out the nausea you get with certain locomotion types. Definitely not to the point where anyone can play Project Cars in VR, but things like consuming ginger (candied, tea, or even raw if you can stand it) and stopping when nausea comes on can help to get your VR legs quicker.
