I have heard that that kind of thing, the making female characters less attractive is done on purpose to either A:be sensitive to the trans community or B: its bad cause straight white males like attractive women and male gaze is evil of course. or C: the desire to destroy the definition of a woman and good femininity in general as they have already made a mockery of masculinity.

taken alone it wouldn't be an issue, but if you see it through the context of 2022 and an entire history of games and movie cannon you might have expected that to turn up before this next game. That it hasn't; shows that it isn't a normal part of her character, but more woke virtue signaling propaganda crap, kinda like JK Rowling suddenly deciding that Dumbledore is gay after she was done with all the books.

The main character is always a self insert, even if the gender doesn't match. Do I want the main character to romance a guy? No. Do I need to see romance in a Tomb Raider game? No, but it would be useful as a plot device.
