This happened many times before with bought digital media. It’s a bad deal.
Exactly. Buy the damn book. Or print it out and put it in a 3-ring binder. Or put the pdf on a flashdrive. This e-reader bullshit is a ripoff waiting to happen. Same with movies. Buy the DVD used at the record store, so Hollyweird never sees a dime.
They never owned the item in the first place. They had a temporary, revocable license to watch it. They got what they paid for but didn't read carefully.
In other words...ripped off, conned, and flimflammed...like them that paid for books on Amazon Kindle, only to find them MIA later. Or the M$ bullshit of you buying the OS, but not really, you're just renting it. Call a spade a spade.
