Diablo Immortal came out and it's full of the worst kind of loot boxes and predatory monetization. People are not happy and the knee jerk reaction is to run to the government for more regulation. Dumb fucks. This is how you get the government to pass mandatory tracking of who plays what games and when. They'll pass a law saying you need to be 18 to play lootbox games and you have to prove age. This is just playing in the hands of the elites who want a global identification system just to access thr internet: digital passports.

In Canada you can't have giveaways as they are considered gambling. But you can still do giveaways and they are done all the time. How? It has to be a skill-based 'game'. You ask the participant a question like "what's 2+2?" Legally that makes the giveaway a skill-based game and thus not gambling. It's what Diablo Immortal did with its lootboxes by hiding them inside a rift.

Exactly, they'd just jew their way around the regulation anyway. It would only fuck over indies and people who don't even want to put faggot microtransaction shit in their game in the first place.
