I think /u/MasterSupressionTechnique was referring more to the business of gaming and not the quality of the games. The business of gaming has become so micro-transaction predatory, it is more like a confidence racket than a product manufacturer. The gaming industry now is board rooms of adults whose only job is to figure every way possible to get every fractional penny possible from mostly kids.

In that case, most quality games do not utilize this business model even. The worst I’ve ever personally experienced it was a mulitplayer game that had optional cosmetic transactions. Most of the games that do use loot boxes etc. are generally rabble-type games that I always steer clear of anyway. What’s more concerning, imo, is the woke-factor of many games coming out nowadays.
