2k as well. I play nigger ball games. I’ll admit it. Not only do they force you to sit through 5sec of Gatorade advertising during timeouts, you get to watch children gyrating in sync on the court.
The article said it's free to play games. I just assume all of those have ads anyway.
Funcom did this with their Anarchy Online game a long time ago, the ads were short videos that played on billboards in game. It was actually pretty cool since the ads appeared in places that ads would normally appear.
One time an ad bugged and followed me around on an 8 second loop for an hour. "Get Castrol Syntec <sound of a revving engine>. Get Castrol Syntec <sound of a revving engine>..."
My car has Castrol Syntec and I keep several quarts in my fridge.
Make sure to drink antifreeze too else your car may break down in the winter.
Get. A. Fucking. Life.
The car racing game Pole Position (1982) had billboards that were real-life product adverts. I think they had multiple versions of the game with different billboards, like a dozen or so actual products... Marlboro, Penzoil, etc.
This has already been a concept for like 15 years and gamers agreed with it. It's like why not.
what games had adverts in them for the last 15 years?
I don't remember seeing any
'Concept' is a word that means as in an idea for the last 15 years.
But Forza did this for a while.
yeh it's always been talked about but gamers always said fuck off.
Oh unless you count mobile games as games.
Then yeh it's cancer to the highest order.
Smite has a feature where if you let enough ads play you get free in-game skins, boosters, etc..
But involuntary ads are Uber gay
Videogames?!?!
Are they those things that USED TO BE FUCKING FUN till millennials got ahold of them?!?!
