Playstation is speaking from the back of the pack as far as the future is concerned. They didn't like game passes, cross play or putting effort into their online framework either. They thought killzone, God of War and last of us as exclusives would carry them forever. Now Microsoft owns everything, once they successfully integrate xbox and pc fully Playstation is done unless they get on board.
Playstation fought every advancement in the gaming industry. Every single one (ironically except for vr) they are always playing catchup years after telling the new direction in the industry that they are wrong. Hell, they just made Playstation pass a thing like 2 months ago. (Or maybe they added the streaming to pc 2 months ago, either way, playing catchup)
Now, thanks to that obstinance you can get basically every triple a game worth playing from Microsoft gamepass on both console and pc, while using both simultaneously for 15 dollars a month.
I prefer the Nintendo route of going their own way and they have the most creative, though graphically limited, exclusives. You’d be hard pressed to find a game as original as Mario Odyssey for PS or Xbox. However, with Nintendo’s somewhat recent announcement of pledging more diversity hiring (women in managerial positions), it seems like the writing is on the wall.
