Titanfall 1 and 2 had cheater pools. If you got caught, they'd put you in. Ironically, one butthurt hacker eventually succeeded in killing the games after EA took full control of Respawn Entertainment and forced the company to stop maintaining them in lieu of some stupid cash cow title called Apex Legends.
People have gone as far as to reverse engineer the game to find a solution, given it to the devs, and the devs still won't fix it. Both games have been unplayable for over a year and still are. Yet EA has no problem continuing to sell these games that can't be played.
The whole story behind it is as interesting as it is infuriating.
Really? I was just thinking about reinstalling tf2 on my PS4 yesterday. Is it bad on console too or mostly restricted to pc hackers?
From what I understand, the faggot hacker (Jeanue) only targeted the PC versions. Just learned that TF1 got pulled from sale a while back, and while they said they'd fix the problem and keep the servers up, neither happened. That game is deader than dead and Jeanue got what he wanted.
TF2's servers for PC are still under attack. That game was partially reverse engineered and now there's a third party multiplayer server/matchmaker called Northstar, and it fixes the exploit that Jeanue uses to kick players from the server. Wish it had TF1 support, because I preferred its mechanics over the sequel.
