If you actually look into him he seems incredibly depressed and lonely the past few years.

He started minecraft in his 30s, in his mom's basement and used /v/ to beta test the game for like 2 years before he hired a single employee.
If notch is out in the either I'd tell him to try to see if could hire somebody from here to be a life coach, it seems he could use some guidance and outsider perspective.
He's pretty much one of us that got rich, and realized that its still impossible to change the world for the better with a billion dollars. Sad.

He's probably fine too but when you finally have everything and don't have to struggle anymore you realize that everything is pointless and now you have no excuse to be unhappy.
