Buying in to a console, mid-cycle, usually has an entry cost fractional to that of the release MSRP, doing so today requires an entry cost measured in multiples of release MSRP. The buy-in cost delta is easily three to five times what it would otherwise be in a normal economy and for any rational mind, that changes the value proposition entirely.
