What makes you think they can't do this with linux as well? All they need is for their program to read your serial numbers which Paypal does every time you log in.
A. You have the option of using a non-TPM system. Linux doesn't demand it. WIndows 11 does.
B. From a software level, while there might be exploits that can come to light, Linux itself does not actively code backdoors into itself the way Windows does in the name of "security". I'd take my chances with a Linux 0 day exploit that would be patched quickly over Microsoft NSA bullshit hard coded into the very kernel layer of the OS
so if you log into a website like Paypal (that collects all of your computers data) with a Linux distro, Paypal can't read your data?
According to the article, assuming your not using a tpm 2.0 system, no. TPM 2.0 might be enough to allow it, but from a software opening no Linux wouldn't allow it on it's own
You shouldn't be using paypal either
Systemd
And? Show me an instance where systemd can be used by a third party to control your computer or force uninstall software as Windows 10 currently does. And besides, you do realize that there ARE distros that do not use systemd, right?
They also have the option to require a TPM on Linux. Riot I mean. You can run Linux, but they don't have to let you play
Wouldn't be any different than the current EAC crap that holds back Linux gaming currently. The difference is you'd have the option to not have it, rather than your OS forcing you to have it just to run it in the first place.
