A. You have the option of using a non-TPM system. Linux doesn't demand it. WIndows 11 does.

B. From a software level, while there might be exploits that can come to light, Linux itself does not actively code backdoors into itself the way Windows does in the name of "security". I'd take my chances with a Linux 0 day exploit that would be patched quickly over Microsoft NSA bullshit hard coded into the very kernel layer of the OS

so if you log into a website like Paypal (that collects all of your computers data) with a Linux distro, Paypal can't read your data?

According to the article, assuming your not using a tpm 2.0 system, no. TPM 2.0 might be enough to allow it, but from a software opening no Linux wouldn't allow it on it's own

The data collection from Paypal I'm speaking of is nothing new, it's been in place for over a decade. It has nothing to do with TPM.

You shouldn't be using paypal either

What would you use as an alternative?

Systemd

And? Show me an instance where systemd can be used by a third party to control your computer or force uninstall software as Windows 10 currently does. And besides, you do realize that there ARE distros that do not use systemd, right?

I'm fully aware. Security issues are documented.

Worth pointing out your position is closely inline with the historical nay says of windows issues.

My point being, we need a well supported mint and likes without systemd.

They also have the option to require a TPM on Linux. Riot I mean. You can run Linux, but they don't have to let you play

Wouldn't be any different than the current EAC crap that holds back Linux gaming currently. The difference is you'd have the option to not have it, rather than your OS forcing you to have it just to run it in the first place.

Yeah the Windows 11 thing is bullshit. I wonder if 11 will be one of the versions no one uses. I never touched Windows 8. I've been pretty happy with Windows 10, but people trash it all the time.
