This means we will be permanently banned on internet.

[–] 8 pts

Linux will rise.

[–] 3 pts

Will Linux blow up ICANN headquarters?

[–] -1 pt

What does ICANN have to do with anything? Oh wait you have no clue how anything works.

[–] [deleted] 8 pts

Holy crap, they're using TPM to enforce bans.

Valorant now requires a TPM to be installed if a player is running Windows 11

This is just the beginning. We're entering a new era of user tracking now that Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 in order to install.

[–] 7 pts

They can TPM dees nuts. I'll be fucked before I add and enable it.

Go figure Tencent is shoving that shit along with their kernel level anti-cheat bullshit.

[–] 4 pts

if you're using windows at home after 7 you get what you fucking deserve.

[–] 0 pt

You can completely disable it (people were doing it in order to install Windows 11 on older machines without TPM 2.0 compliant BIOS revisions).

[–] 8 pts

Only shills still laugh at linux.

[–] 2 pts

True. And honestly even normans have no excuse at this point to not use like Mint or Ubuntu. Resources for everything you'd want to do are plentiful. Even the gaming/app arguments don't hold water.

[–] 5 pts

I expect the next big push will be to get systemd removed from linux.

[–] 1 pt

Already some distros out there that don't use it.

[–] 1 pt

I certainly hope so. I have Mint and Slackware, but there's so much stuff Slackware can't do anymore due to libraries you can't find that I'm almost always running Mint. OTOH, Mint is based of Ubuntu, and (10 yr ago maybe?) some bigwig at Ubuntu bragged about how they knew all the passwords to a system.

[–] 2 pts

I dual boot mint and win10 and honestly linux is pretty shit. Everything feels really janky, I can't even set my mouse speed exactly how I want. The UI is awful. The windows program installation process is way more intuitive. I will probably move to linux when 11 comes out but for now I think win 10 fortified in various ways is just better.

The bigger issue is internet security since I think most people who don't use VPNs are putting themselves on a list.

[–] 0 pt

Stop using that piece of shit mint then.

[–] 5 pts

Never come between a man and his games.

[–] 3 pts

They can ban your mobo. Why not just refuse to use their shit?

[–] 2 pts

If this doesn't make you move to, or SERIOUSLY consider Linux, I don't know what else will

[–] 1 pt

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is pretty solid if anyone is looking to try something.

[–] 0 pt

What makes you think they can't do this with linux as well? All they need is for their program to read your serial numbers which Paypal does every time you log in.

[–] 2 pts

A. You have the option of using a non-TPM system. Linux doesn't demand it. WIndows 11 does.

B. From a software level, while there might be exploits that can come to light, Linux itself does not actively code backdoors into itself the way Windows does in the name of "security". I'd take my chances with a Linux 0 day exploit that would be patched quickly over Microsoft NSA bullshit hard coded into the very kernel layer of the OS

[–] 0 pt

so if you log into a website like Paypal (that collects all of your computers data) with a Linux distro, Paypal can't read your data?

[–] 0 pt

Systemd

[–] 0 pt

They also have the option to require a TPM on Linux. Riot I mean. You can run Linux, but they don't have to let you play

[–] 0 pt

The guy who writes the fucking kernel is a member of the world economic forum. So ya.

[–] 2 pts

Ubuntu Learn it Use it Contribute Quit porn

[–] 2 pts

Just imagine a world where Twatter, Jootube and Farcezuck can ban the actual, physical PC.

[–] 0 pt

I have a Youtube ban that seems to ban any account on any chrome-based browser (like Brave) but not Firefox. It's quite strange. I don't really understand why anyone still uses Facebook or twitter considering they are pozzed circle-jerks worse than reddit.

[–] 0 pt (edited )

Chrome based browsers can share your ad preferences, bookmarks, cookies... it's spyware. You can tweak your chrome settings to reduce the surveillance but you can't reduce it by much if you are logged in with your google account and use google services. Brave is based on chromium which can be a little bit more private than chrome if you know how to tweak it for privacy in the settings menu. No more debating antis if they censor social media like this.

For the safety of our users windows 11 needs your vaxx card!

[–] 1 pt

Riots sales will suffer and their support costs will be twice as much.

[–] 0 pt

This is the real answer. A different game can easily take their place.

[–] 0 pt

i wonder if they will just shut off windows or if they will actively brick your computer "by accident"
