Kind of weird it's only showing up in Amazon's game. Lots of games have high fps menus like The Witcher 3, civ 6, etc.

Probably driven by transition period. Many games start loading resources prior to the menu. But if they start everything at once, with an unlocked fps menu, there may not be a large enough transition period to soak the heat.
Amazon is using their own engine so the behavior is likely unique to them.
