Does anyone remember this game on either ps1, dreamcast, or ps2 that had a hexagonal playing field that had sprites on opposite sides, that when they would meet you would battle in real time, flying around in a 3d map? For the life of me i cannot remember.

Actually it was Unholy War, OGRellik88 chimed in right on the money. Here is a video it was a great little game, came out about the same time Soul Reaver came out. That one was great as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3Colr3-wHg
