I played a game called Privateer when I was a kid on my 486. It was a blast. Since then I've been looking for that, but big and modern. I finally found that in X4 foundations. A first person single player space sim with all the good stuff. You can trade, pirate, bounty hunt, and explore. You can hire other pilots and build. I love this game!

elite dangerous is superior

Not massively so. And X4 will still be available after ED shuts down its servers.

And hackers can / will enable the single player only feature. And when they shut down the ED servers I'll go cry in X4 or X5 - but the UI especially feels like it was made by blind children being beaten daily. It's just so badddddd

Most of the map data, location and resource data, and all the economy data isn't on each downloaded version.

I will cede that point to you - but I have a feeling Braben wouldn't shaft his audience likd that, worse case scenario he will make the feature available without the server if the game as a service has to shut down.

My biggest gripe is, where can I find another game as masterful as Nexus: The Jupiter Incident? To this day I cannot find a tactical space battle sim as detailed and astute as that one :(

You did rebind the controls, right?
