Too many inexperienced players rely on the boundary of the map to stop enemies from taking certain attack routes. Many such cases. Sad.
Right? Chronosphere says hello.
Also, have you played the mod Mental Omega? It's the greatest Red Alert 2 experience you will ever have, I promise you. It's a free mod, and it's a TOTAL redesign. Brand new campaigns for all 3 factions, sub factions added, and a brand new super-high tech faction added. Here's the factions:
Allies: USA (specialize in lasers and air superiority), Euro Alliance (specialize in defensive and support tactics), and Pacific Front (specialize in cryo-weapons and mobility).
Soviets: Russia (specialize in Tesla technology, balanced), Latin Confederation (specialize in guerilla warfare, flame weapons, hit-n-run), and Chinese (specialize in atomic tech, heavy and expensive units)
Epsilon (Yuri's faction): Epsilon HQ (specializes in stealth and genetic tech), Scorpion Cell (specialized in guerilla warfare, toxic chemical weapons, quick hit and runs), and PsiCorps (specialize in psychic technology).
And the new faction, the Foehn Revolt: The Last Bastion (super heavy units, very defensive based faction), Wings of Coronia (specialized in unique heavy infantry and air superiority), and Haihead (specializes in heavy mechs and massive explosives).

If you want to go oldschool, check out OpenRA- the community has gotten hold of the source code for Red Alert 1 many years ago, and holy shit- modders have added a degree of polish to the original game that makes it playable in a modern context. You can queue more than one soldier at a time! All kinds of UI improvements, balance changes- but it still feels like you're playing the original RA.
Here is OpenRA: https://www.openra.net/
If anyone reading this thinks they have the skills to play with me, this is an open challenge. Let's rock!
Fuck yeah, dude I got thousands of hours out of RA and Mental Omega made that tens of thousands.
Saved, this is a treasure trove of a comment
The next major goal for OpenRA is to support the second generation of Command & Conquer games, starting with Tiberian Sun.
One of the best C&C games ever.
They already have.
I've played Tiberian Dawn (the original) and Sun with OpenRA, as well as Dune 2000, and a ton of other strange mods. There is an OpenRA C+C Generals mod, I was involved in the making of a mod called "Shattered Paradise", which is like Tiberian Sun + Scrin and Cyborg factions.
They've cracked it man, it's all there for you on OpenRA website. Here's Shattered Paradise: https://www.moddb.com/mods/shattered-paradise
You take a look at that footage and tell me that doesn't look like a fun new take that keeps the core spirit of the game. That's what's so great about all these OpenRA mods: They all feel like the game they're trying to represent, but with a great UI update and interesting new mechanics that don't go over-the-top. This is how you make sequels, not the way EA does.
